OUR safeguarding policy
These behaviour protocols are focused on protecting all children anywhere from harm caused by SUTO employees and affiliates and protecting adults from harm caused by SUTO employees or affiliates as part of SUTO program presence. Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults we serve is foundational to all SUTO activities, programs, and Lines of Ministry including relief, development and advocacy. Central to everything we do is our commitment to first do no harm to children or adult beneficiaries, to respect the rights of all beneficiaries and to uphold the best interests of children as a primary consideration in all actions and decisions. For the purposes of SUTO Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy:
A child is any person under the age of 18 years according to the Children Act No 8 of 2001(Laws of Kenya) and the Constitution of Kenya 2010
A ‘beneficiary’ is defined to include not only direct beneficiaries of a particular project, but also any child or adult who might suffer harm caused by SUTO employees or affiliates as part of SUTO program presence.
