In 2022, SUTO implemented a project focusing on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) on youths and women in Nyando and Muhoroni Sub-counties. Through this, we:

Successfully trained 24 security committee officials, including the Assistant County Commissioner, Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, Police Officers, Gender Desks Officers, and Social Justice Representatives in both Nyando and Muhoroni Sub-Counties on GBV and how they should engage in the prevention of GBV and improve access to justice

Successfully engaged 200 gender-based violence survivors to participate in the Mental Health boot camp through one-on-one counselling sessions with professional counsellors in a 2-day mental health boot camp in Nyando and Muhoroni Sub-County

The organisation provided counselling services to 100 youth and 10 adult women in dire need of psychosocial support during the pandemic, improving mental well-being.

Improved case reporting through the sensitization of the communities of Nyando and Muhoroni, there has been increased reporting of the cases especially during the months of the project life. Further, together with our partners, we continue to experience call traffic from the community members with cases of gender-based violence.

Supported 1500 young girls with dignity kits and sexual reproductive health education, including menstrual hygiene, family planning, linkages to youth-friendly services, and other livelihood training. This has significantly reduced their vulnerability to teenage pregnancy, forced marriages, and school dropout
